It’s that time of year. It’s time for the Gumdrop Tower Challenge in Mr. C’s STREAM class! This year we had the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades all participate in the challenge. The challenge is to build the tallest freestanding structure with just gumdrops and toothpicks. Then, to measure it, you must take your hands off and count 5 seconds before the measurement can be taken – so it has to stand all by itself!
This year the tallest tower was a collaborative tower by 4th graders on TEAM GUMDROP TOWER and it was 24 inches high. The tallest tower in the 2nd/3rd grade was by Team Gumdrops at 12 inches. The tallest tower in the 4th grade class was by Team Gumdrop Tower at 19 inches. The tallest tower in 5th Grade was the Team Lining Tower of Pisa at 20 inches!
