This week marked the beginning of several extra-curricular activities at SJS. On Wednesday, the newly created Cheer Team held their first practice after school. Several students, working under the guidance of Maria Bali, Kindergarten aide and Albany Empress, along with Ingrid Bender, Kindergarten Teacher, began to learn cheers and simple stunts. The Cheer Team plans on making appearances at community events and CYO basketball games. “Let’s Go SJS!”
On Thursday, the SJS Bowling Club kicked off their season at Hi-Way Recreation in Wynantskill. Students in grades 3rd-6th grade, under the guidance of Kris Hoffay, are invited to be part of the Bowling Club that meets each Thursday through February. Thursday afternoons never disappoint at the bowling alley, especially when they have holiday parties and friendly competitions!
On Friday, students who participate in Band had their first lessons. SJS is proud to partner with Paul Effman Music to bring instrument lessons and a school band to SJS. The band is always looking for new student members, so let us know if you would like to be part of the SJS Band – no experience necessary. In addition to weekly lessons, students perform at the Christmas Concert and Spring Concert.
Finally, SJS is excited to have partnered with Mighty Kicks this year to bring soccer instruction to students in Pre-K through 5th grade. On Monday afternoons, right here on the SJS campus, you will find students perfecting their kicking, dribbling and shooting skills. Parents and students alike are excited for this opportunity!
