The students in grades kindergarten through 6 are on the move in Physical Education classes! They are participating in the Rising New York Road Runners program again this year. This is a free activity-based program that focuses on helping the students develop the ability, confidence, and desire to be physically active for life. The students keep track of their laps during P.E. class and receive incentive rewards from the program for achieving specific milestones. In December the students received a Rising New York Road Runner t-shirt for getting off to a great start this year! This month many of the students received an incentive award for having participated in 25 sessions. Each student has the goal of achieving the equivalent of a marathon, 26.2 miles, before the end of the school year. They are well on their way to that goal and many will surpass it! As of January 25, the students have run a total of 1,490 miles!! They should be very proud of their effort and hard work.
