The students in grades 3-6 participated in a special health class on Tuesday, January 29. Mrs. Johanna Flannigan spoke to the students on the subject of First Aid. Mrs. Flannigan is our parish nurse and spent many years as an emergency room nurse and as an EMT. She shared a wealth of information with the students. Mrs. Flannigan covered a variety of topics such as how to call 911, what to do if someone is bleeding or suffers a burn, and how to determine if someone is unresponsive. The students had an opportunity to ask questions and Mrs. Flannigan had the chance to ask questions of the students as well. It was a lively presentation with lots of information and stories shared. This was an opportunity to reinforce the material that has been covered in health class and to prepare the students with basic information that will be valuable to them now and in the future. Thank you, Mrs. Flannigan for giving of your time to help the students grow in their knowledge of first aid!
