Monthly Character Education Theme: “Happy”
“Take time to make your soul happy!”
Monday, 1/21/19 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day – No School
Open House – January 27th, 2019, 1PM to 3PM – Please spread the word! Open house is a wonderful way to meet all of our wonderful faculty and staff, tour our school under the guidance of our students and see why St. Jude the Apostle School is the place for your child to receive a wonderful education in a family-orientated, faith-based atmosphere.
Front of School – No Parking – We have noticed that there have been vehicles parking in front of school and along the sidewalk for drop off and pick up. There is no parking in front of school during school hours because this space needs to be left open for emergency vehicles and school buses. Please park in the school parking lot during school hours. You could possibly get a ticket for parking in front of the school during school hours. Thank you.
Hoop Shoot Breakfast – Has been canceled due to predicated weather.
Hoop Shoot Contest – Is still on! Monday, 1/21 at 5:45PM for girls and boys ages 9 – 14 compete with their own gender/age group by shooting 15 free throws. The participant that makes the most in each gender/age group moves on to the district regional and state/provincial levels to compete. Trophies will be awarded to top finishers.
Make-A-Wish – Help fill our school with stars for the Make-A-Wish campaign! Every star for $1.00 that is purchased will help grant a life changing wish for a child. Thank you for your support and kicking off 2019 by showing our students that kindness and generosity can change the world! Class with the most stars will earn a free dress down day!
Harlem Wizards Are Coming Back! Saturday, February 2nd at 6:00PM-Doors Open at 5:00PM – Come and enjoy a fun filled night featuring some of our faculty and staff. Tickets sales are online only at: https://harlemwizards.thundertix.com/events.
Luck of the Irish – Feeling lucky? Purchase Luck of the Irish raffle tickets or sell them to your family, friends or co-workers. We sent ten tickets home to each family. If you need more let us know! If every family could try and sell at least 10 or more raffle tickets we should be able to beat last year’s sales! Luck of the Irish Raffle begins March 1, so there is still time to sell!

Snow Days/Delays – The policies we follow at St. Jude the Apostle School for snow days and delays will be communicated to families using the following methods as soon as a decision is made:
- Announcement on all LOCAL radio and television stations along with the websites associated with those stations (WNYT, WRGB, WTEN, The Times Union, FLY 92, B95.5, WGNA, The River, etc.)
- A SchoolMessenger email AND text blast will be sent to all families (phone calls WILL NOT be made)
- Posting on social media (FaceBook, Instagram and Twitter)
In the event of a 2 hour delay, the school doors will be opened at 9:30am. Students should not be dropped off any earlier than 9:30am and should never be left unattended at the front door. For the safety of our faculty and staff, they are not expected to arrive before 9:30am.
It is unlikely SJS will have an early dismissal due to weather; HOWEVER individual school districts may make the decision to close early and will send a bus to pick up students. If your local school district (district of residence) decides to have an early dismissal and your child normally rides the bus, they will be dismissed when the bus arrives. We will do our best to communicate this to you using SchoolMessenger, but it is truly the responsibility of the parent/guardian to stay connected through local radio, television and websites. Many websites now have the ability to send notifications for a district of your choosing. If you choose to not have your child ride the bus home in the event of an early dismissal by your district, you must communicate this to the school office in a timely manner.
Please know that CASE (Community After School Enrichment Program) is always an option for you and your child. Students are welcome to stay here at school until transportation can be provided . The daily drop-in rate for CASE is $16.
