Miss Hillis joined the SJS community in September and teaches some of our youngest students in the AM/PM Pre-K class. Miss Hillis has an A.A.S. from HVCC in Early Childhood Education and a Dual Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Special Education with a concentration in English from The College of Saint Rose. She has six years of experience in the field of education. She grew her interest in teaching after volunteering as a Special Olympics Assistant Coach during her senior year of high school. Miss Hillis has student taught and worked with Head Start, and several public schools in the capital district as a Teacher Assistant, Toddler Teacher, Substitute Teacher and UPK Teacher. Miss Hillis’ goal is to earn her master’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and Literacy.
