Hola! Mrs. Monica Keenan currently teaches elementary and middle school Spanish at both St. Jude the Apostle School and Blessed Sacrament School. She has been teaching Spanish for the past 17 years and has also had the opportunity to teach art.
Mrs. Keenan was born in Quito, Ecuador and came to the United States with her parents and two sisters when she was nine years old. Her parents settled in New York City where she attended school. She moved to Upstate New York when her children where young, hoping to find a better quality of life.
Mrs. Keenan studied art at York College for three years. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture Science and Technology from the New York Institute of Technology. When her children started Catholic school here in Upstate, NY, she was asked to teach Spanish and Art and continues to do so to this day. She has also attended classes at both Cobleskill College and SUNY at Albany to further her education as an educator.
Mrs. Keenan enjoys the outdoors and loves to hike the Adirondack peaks with her husband.” I find that it renews the mind and spirit and is a great form of exercise. I consider myself to be a comprehensive teacher because I am a bi-lingual learner too. I know how some children feel because I went through the same experience myself.”
“I pray that the Lord allows me to continue sharing my gift of my native language and creativity to my students for many more years to come.”
